Maternity Leave

  • Paid leave is 84 working days.
  • 84 days of half-paid leave, including public holidays
  • 84 days of unpaid leave, including public holidays

Approval of Maternity Leave

  • Send a request letter to the Head of the Institution along with a document that can prove it immediately after the delivery of the child.
  • If 84 days of half-paid and unpaid leave are taken thereafter, the leave application shall be made before the end of the paid maternity leave.
  • If 84 days of unpaid maternity leave are taken, the officer shall notify in writing the manner in which the installments due to the government will be paid.

Emergency Accident Leave

Procedure

After referring the application for emergency accident leave to the Medical Examination Board, the Head of the Department shall submit a copy of the relevant report to the Secretary of the Ministry for approval of the emergency accident leave.

Chapter XXI of the Establishments Code

Insurance

Annual insurance of assets (buildings, vehicles and machinery) owned by Matale Pradeshiya Sabha is done.

In addition, Agrahara Insurance is provided to every person employed in the public service and their dependents. All information regarding this can be obtained through the link https://www.nitf.lk/si/home.html.

Railway permits

According to Chapter XII of the Establishments Code, public officers/employees can apply for free railway passes.

03 sets of passes can be obtained for going and coming (one set of passes) per year.

A railway pass can be applied for by completing the Common Form 21.

After making the request through Common Form 21, a pass can be obtained after confirming whether or not the passes have been obtained during the year and after obtaining approval from the Head of the Establishment.

If the pass so obtained is not used, it should be returned to the office that issued it.

Assets and liabilities

Every person appointed to a permanent position in the Government Service is required to furnish a declaration of assets and liabilities in the Common Form 261.

As provided under Chapter XXXIII, No. 2 of the Establishments Code.

Financial Provisions

  • Government officers shall be provided with annual funds for the provision of welfare facilities.The
  • Director General of Establishments shall allocate these funds to the respective departments

How to apply

  • The applicant shall submit an application to the Director General of Establishments one month before the end of the financial year, including among other matters.
  • The specific purpose for which the funds are required, the necessity and urgency of the need
  • The amount required and the manner in which the funds are generated
  • The number of officers likely to benefit from it
  • A report on the existing welfare, recreational or restaurant facilities

Expenses and items not to be purchased from the funds allocated for welfare

  • As indicated under Chapter XXII of the Institutions Code under No. 6.

Uniforms

  • Chapter XXI of the Institutions Code and Public Administration Circular 05/2013
  • Uniforms may be issued to enable easy identification of the service in which the person is engaged while on duty.

Matale Pradeshiya Sabha Welfare Association

Benefits provided by the United Welfare Association established by the staff of the Matale Pradeshiya Sabha

  • A sum of Rs. 10,000.00 is provided at the time of loan disbursement and is recovered in lump sum or equal installments. The monthly interest is 5%.
  • An amount of Rs. 37,000.00 is provided at the time of funeral.
  • A gratuity is provided at the time of retirement or transfer.
  • Membership fees are Rs. 200.00 and new membership fees are Rs. 1500.00.

Similarly, the Welfare Association implements many programs annually for the welfare of the staff.
